STPI has some arbit restrictions on keeping the balconies in the office open. As a result, the only balconies that are open are those that provide the ugliest look or those that open up to the hot a/c exhaust of another building.

I found this when I wanted to eat my apple in peace. Searched for open balconies. The ones facing MG Road were closed. From the one that I managed to find, I was greeted with a blast of very warm air and the view of a person jacking off in the bathroom in the opposite building.

An apple a day keeps your good mood away.

My life and the Schrodinger's cat

A cat is placed in a sealed box. Attached to the box is an apparatus containing a radioactive nucleus and a canister of poison gas. The experiment is set up so that there is a 50% chance of the nucleus decaying in one hour. If the nucleus decays, it will emit a particle that triggers the apparatus, which opens the canister and kills the cat. (According to quantum mechanics, the unobserved nucleus is described as a superposition (mixture) of "decayed nucleus" and "undecayed nucleus".) However, when the box is opened the experimenter sees only a "decayed nucleus/dead cat" or a "undecayed nucleus/living cat."

The question is: when does the system stop existing as a mixture of states and become one or the other? The purpose of the experiment is to illustrate that quantum mechanics is incomplete without some rules to describe when the wavefunction collapses and the cat becomes dead or remains alive instead of a mixture of both.

In short, it is in a state that is both alive and dead, until the box is opened.

My condition is stranger. I have opened the box, and yet, the wavefunction refuses to collapse. The cat roams free, and I don't know if it is alive or dead :(

The purpose of this post is to illustrate that my life is stranger than quantum mechanics.
My roomies maintain "Sri Ramajayam" note books. He probably writes when I am not around, cos the note is half-full and I have never seen him writing.

Went to the training room "on the dot". Only two people in the room - me and the sql guru(he is an american). He passed some scathing remark on the proverbial indian punctuality, and on people being fashionably late.

Someone walks in five minutes late, and says 'Its time to start'.

For the first time, I wonder if, in one aspect, I have changed for the better or for the worse.

Reason says for the better, experience says for the worse, and I say that I really don't know.

Rewind:

The day: Sometime in 2003.
The place: IIITB, ITPL.

The world just saw its worst software architecture project demo.

Name of the project: swayamvara.com
Sample db row count: 3 entries. 2 female and 1 male.
No. of tables: 1
No. of columns in this table: 56
Points for design: -45 on 3E45

Fast-Forward:
The day: 05 Apr 2005
The place: An arbit discussion room in office

Training session on advanced schema design. Session being handled by an SQL grand guru. A chuckle can be heard from one corner of the table that soon turns into an ugly braying(read loud laugh).

The person wasn't able to stand the irony.

More on this later
1. Heard of my first marriage proposal. The girl is in Bangalore Wipro, and my mom was given the girl's HOROSCOPE, goddammit. "Walking with dinosaurs" on Pogo was more appealing. It had a feature on Tyrannosaurus Rex. For god's sake, HOROSCOPE. Why do they even live?

2. Am now a nubile eligible bachelor. Sounds sickening.

3. Had a long conversation with dad. He was of the opinion that he doesn't mind who I get married to, but that I should not go around before marriage. I told him not to dictate my personal life and to mind his own business. I also told him that this is 2005, but I doubt if it registered. My mom knows better than to advice me.

4. 24 is a strange age.

I don't claim to understand the rationale behind this, but I think I
deserve to know why!

We got along so well that it almost seems criminal to have let it go
at the corner. Its bad enough losing a good friend. Don't make it
worse by withholding the reason. Its only fair that I know. I only
hope that it isn't due to someone's misplaced sense of insecurity.
